Paul Tibbet

-Tibbet's enlisted in the army in 1937

-In 1942 he became the commanding officer of he 340th Bombardment Squadron, 97th Bombardment group, equipped with the Boeing-17 Bomber.

-Tibbet's named his B-29 Enola gay after his mother and personally picked out the plane when it came off the assembly line.

-Dropped the first atomic bomb ever.

On August 6th 1945 at 8:15am Tibbet's was flying the plane that dropped the atomic bomb (little boy) on Hiroshima which ended the war with Japan.
Tibbets was awarded the Distinguished service cross by Spaatz immediately after landing on Tinian.
